The prophet Isaiah aligns his vision with a host of biblical images of God calling us to share the goodness of creation. Despite this message we remain in a world willing to protect wealth even when it burdens and binds others. How does the church understand this situation and what is it called to?
On March 24 at 7pm (CST) David Driedger (First Mennonite Church of Winnipeg) will moderate a panel with Winnipeg Centre MP Leah Gazan presenting Motion 46 which aims to ensure a livable income for all Canadians. In addition author and organizer John Clarke will address the need to keep public supports and opportunities at the forefront of working towards a just and dignified society. These important contributions will be used to discuss how the church can respond to Isaiah’s prophetic call to break every yoke that causes unnecessary suffering.
